The guide screws on the drive slide into the rubber guides, which both support the drive, and provide a bit of shock mounting. Not much value in that if one uses an SSD. I just mentioned that I have used duck tape, but I have that drive, so it was 'not me!' I looked through Apple's service manuals, which don't list any separate part for that drive shield - I don't think Apple would call it a sled, but I don't see any reference to it at all - no part number that I can find. Apple's original drives came with that shield already installed, or it just stayed with the MacBook by swapping it out to a replacement hard drive.

This is a hard drive sled / tray for Apple Mac Pro 2009 - 2012 Westmere & Nehalem models, manufactured by OWC. Fits all 3.5” SATA & SAS drives including newer models utilising the new screw hole mounting pattern.
